International Tea Day 2020: All You Need to Know About First Year Celebration of World’s Oldest Beverage

Today, May 21, 2020 is the first International Tea Day.

In celebration of the wide variety of teas, the world hopes to up tea consumption and bring awareness of its medicinal and healing properties.  The United Nations took to Twitter to Tweet: “Tea has many health benefits due to its anti-inflammatory & antioxidant properties. On Thursday’s first #InternationalTeaDay, find out more about one of the world’s oldest beverages.”

December 15th was previously known as International Tea Day but was only celebrated in countries where tea is produced like Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Vietnam, Indonesia, Kenya, Malawi, Malaysia, Uganda, India, and Tanzania.

May 21st was chosen as International Tea Day because it’s the season when most tea production begins.

Are you a tea drinker? Do you believe tea has healing properties? What is your favorite type of tea?
