Free-Or Cheap-Holiday Weekend Family Fun Along The Wasatch Front

Explaining to your offspring that you can’t drop another $100.00 for some Wholesome Holiday Family Event doesn’t go over very well.  This is the time of the year for doing Fun Holiday Things, but that gift list isn’t getting any smaller, even though your bank balance is.  Cast an eye below to find cheap or free awesome holiday ideas to do this weekend.  We’re here for you, honey.

Free-Or Cheap-Holiday Weekend Family Fun Along The Wasatch Front

Friday:

10a-10p: The Festival Of Trees – Raising money for Primary Children’s Medical Center makes this a MUST for us, especially since the fund helped ME as a toddler.  Thousands of amazing trees and decor, food and entertainment.  Tickets: $0-$5 at the Southtowne Expo Center through Saturday.

11a-4p: Christkindlmarkt The beautiful German-style holiday market is back at This is the Place State Park.  Amazing gifts and food, and it’s free admission!

12p-8p: Winterfaire – Steampunk, Fantasy, and Goth all come together at the Davis County Legacy Events Center: tickets are $7-25, kids under 6 free.

6-10pm: Spanish Fork Festival of Lights – Runs every night through New Year’s Day. Tickets $7-30.

6:30-10pm: The Christmas Light Cruise on the Provo River – Tickets are $8.00, children under 2 free.

7pm: World Championship Motorcycle Ice Racing – You heard me.  Tickets are $10-25 at the Maverick Center.

Saturday:

9am: Jingle Bell Run & Walk For Arthritis – Gateway Mall, donation $10-25

10am: Snow Days at the Shaw Gallery at Weber State – Free family art day, make a craft together.

10a-5p: 13th Annual Holiday Open House at Red Butte Gardens  – Free admission, wonderful holiday arts and crafts to buy

10a-2p: Winter Market, Rio Grande Depot Downtown SLC – Over 60 farmers and artisans with food and crafts, free admission

10a-4p: Christmas Festival at Heritage Hall, Ogden – Free admission, nativity, crafts, and family activities

10a-12p: Eat. Read. Play. Free kid-friendly cooking activities, stories, and theater games at Trolley Square in SLC.

10:30a-9p: Sugarhouse Christmas Festival – Free admission, visits with Santa, ornament making, music, gifts, food.

11a-2p: Lakeshore Learning Center – Free snowman craft, free admission.

12-8p: Reindeer Trek at Willow Park Zoo in Logan – It’s worth the drive.  Tickets $2.50-4, play with the animals and Santa in a non-mall setting, support local craftspeople.

12-5p: The Light Collective Holiday Fair – Free admission.  Psychics, massage, and healing.  Our friend and amazing psychic Jennafer Martin will be there!  Transformation Station, Brickyard Plaza.

2:30p and 7p: Christmas Around The World, Marriott Center BYUDance, music, and art from a global perspective. Tickets $9-20.

2:30: “Frozen” Sing-Along Fun-SLC Main Library Downtown – Free showing of “Frozen,” dress up like your favorite character if you like, stick around to meet some of your favorites from the film!

4pm: Utah Santa Run, Shops at Riverwoods in Provo – Dress up like St. Nick and run, Rudolph, RUN! Tickets $36-46.

6-10pm: Holiday Festival at the Olympic Skating Oval in Kearns – Free skating, figure skating show, Santa and Mrs. Claus all for a donation to the Food Bank!

7:30pm: International Children’s Choir at the Joseph Smith Building – Amazing international concert in SLC, free admission.

Sunday:

8:30am: Music & The Spoken Word – Holiday broadcast taping at Temple Square. While it starts at 9:30am, you’ll need to be in line at 8:30am. Free admission, children over the age of 8.

9am: Elf Scavenger Hunt, Gardner Village – Go on a hunt to find those pesky elves, free admission.

10a-5p: 13th Annual Holiday Open House at Red Butte Gardens – Free admission, wonderful holiday arts and crafts to buy.

12-6p: Hanukkah Market at the Jewish Community Center, SLC – Gorgeous Jewish arts and crafts, gift items, food, and books. Free admission, everyone is welcome.

1-5pm: Craft Sabbath at the SLC Downtown Library – Free admission and amazing offbeat crafts and creations.

7pm: Sounds of the Season, Bell Choir Ministry – Free holiday concert at Community United Methodist Church in Ogden.
